Foreign Policy for America Endorses Pat Ryan (NY-18) for Re-Election

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - April 25, 2024

WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Policy for America announced today its endorsement of Rep. Pat Ryan for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives. Rep. Ryan is a first-term Member of Congress currently representing New York’s 18th Congressional District.

“Pat Ryan is the first West Point grad to represent the academy in Congress, and that gives him a unique understanding of all that we’ve asked of our military servicemembers since 9/11. He understands the power and importance of American diplomatic leadership, as a complement to our nation’s military, in these difficult times,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “He understands what it takes to protect our freedoms. Most important, he’s committed to serving his community. With his deep family roots in the region, Pat understands better than anyone what his constituents need, and he's been fighting for them since his first day in Congress. We’re grateful for his courage and his commitment to service, and we’re very proud to endorse Pat Ryan for re-election.”

Rep. Ryan is a decorated combat veteran, former local elected official, and fifth-generation resident of Ulster County, New York. Rep. Ryan graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and served two tours in Iraq as an intelligence officer before returning home and co-founding a small technology company. In 2019, Rep. Ryan was elected to serve as Ulster County Executive, leading his community through the COVID-19 pandemic and spearheading policies that delivered relief to working families. He was first elected to Congress as the Representative for NY-19 in an August 2022 special election and was later elected to a full term in NY-18 in the 2022 general election in November. Rep. Ryan serves on the House Armed Services Committee and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. In Congress, Rep. Ryan has focused on issues related to military preparedness, the U.S.-China relationship, and bipartisan immigration reform.
