FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – September 26, 2022
WASHINGTON D.C. — Foreign Policy for America announced today its endorsement of Representative Marcy Kaptur for re-election. Representative Kaptur is member of the House Appropriations Committee where she serves as Chair of the Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development and Co-Chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus.
“Marcy Kaptur has devoted her entire career to fighting for the interests of working Ohioans – and she’s delivered” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “As Co-Chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus, she’s been a leader in the effort to help Ukraine defend its democracy in the face of Russia’s horrific invasion. I have tremendous respect for Rep. Kaptur’s longstanding leadership in Congress, and we are very proud to endorse her today.”
Marcy Kaptur has served Ohio in Congress since 1983 and is currently the longest serving woman in either the House or Senate. The daughter of Polish immigrants, Kaptur is a native of Toledo and the first in her family to attend college. She served the cities of Toledo and Chicago as an urban planner before joining the Carter Administration as a domestic policy advisor. During her career in Congress, Kaptur led the creation of the National World War II memorial and shed light on human rights abuses in the former Soviet Union.
