FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – May 8th, 2024
WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Policy for America announced today its endorsement of Senator Tim Kaine for re-election to the U.S. Senate. Sen. Kaine is the junior Senator from Virginia, having first been elected to the office in 2012.
“Tim Kaine is an indispensable leader in the U.S. Senate. No one works harder to keep Americans safe and make sure our foreign policy stays true to our values and who we are. For over two decades, Senator Kaine has focused intently on strengthening our ties with our closest allies, supporting democracy in the face of threats, and ensuring that this country always leads with diplomacy,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “We’re grateful for his leadership on AUMF reform and his consistent support for diplomacy and the professional civil servants working every day to protect Americans’ interests. We're proud to once again endorse Senator Kaine for re-election and we look forward to his continued leadership in the years to come.”
"I’m honored to have earned the support of Foreign Policy for America in this campaign. In times like today, we have seen how important protecting democracy and freedom is,” said Senator Tim Kaine. “As one of the few Senators serving on both the Armed Services and Foreign Relations Committees, I will continue promoting democracy and human rights, combatting climate change, and advocating for a safer, more secure America. I thank Foreign Policy for America for the work they do to keep the country safe and for their endorsement of this race.”
Senator Kaine has been a dedicated public servant for Virginia for more than two decades. In 1994, he was elected to the Richmond City Council and later served as the Mayor of Richmond from 1998 to 2001. In 2002, he was elected Lieutenant Governor of Virginia in 2002 and held the position until he was elected Governor of Virginia in 2006. Finally, in 2012, he was elected to the U.S. Senate where he has served two terms. In the 118th Congress, Senator Kaine serves on the Foreign Relations Committee, the Armed Services Committee, the Budget Committee, and the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee. He has been a steadfast champion for strengthening America's international partnerships and bolstering U.S. national security through a combination of diplomatic, economic, and military tools.
