Navy Intelligence Officer and Small Business owner endorsed by nonpartisan Foreign Policy for America

WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Policy for America announced today its endorsement of Jay Chen for election to the U.S. House of Representatives. Chen is the son of Taiwanese immigrants and has experience both in the private sector as a business owner and former consultant, as well as with the military. Chen is a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserves and has served on the Korean peninsula in the Middle East. He is an intelligence officer and has led missions to counter the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic in the Middle East.
“Jay has a great understand not only of the priorities of U.S. interests abroad, but he is deeply tuned in with his highly international district in his home state of California. His leadership on issues of security both abroad and domestically are what will make him a leader in Congress,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “Jay’s military experience will allow him to be an asset on different committees. This is an exciting opportunity not only to flip a seat, but to elect an experienced leader who understands national security.”
Even prior to his run for Congress, Chen demonstrated his commitment to both American goals abroad, but also strong ties to his district. Chen grew up in Southern California the son of Taiwanese immigrants and went on to Harvard and then received a fellowship to study at Peking University in China. Prior to joining the U.S. Navy Reserves, he worked in the private sector. During his time in the military, Chen has served on the Korean peninsula and in the Middle East. Chen also serves on several local and national boards, including as the President of the Board of Trustees for Mt. San Antonio Community College.
