Foreign Policy for America Endorses Representative Abigail Spanberger (VA-07) for Re-Election 

Leading Representative endorsed by nonpartisan Foreign Policy for America

WASHINGTON D.C. - Foreign Policy for America announced today its endorsement of Representative Abigail Spanberger for re-election. As a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Representative Spanberger is running to represent Virginia’s seventh district for a third term in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Abigail Spanberger is a problem solver, first and foremost, and she has worked tirelessly with members of both parties to ensure that American foreign policy delivers for American families,” said Andrew Albertson, Executive Director of Foreign Policy for America. “She’s been a powerful voice for restoring Congress’s constitutional role in authorizing and overseeing the use of military force, and she’s spotlighted the important work our diplomats do in protecting Americans overseas and advancing our economic interests. We need more lawmakers like Abigail Spanberger, and that’s why we’re so proud to support her re-election.” 

Prior to serving in Congress, Spanberger worked as a federal law enforcement officer working narcotics and money laundering cases with the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and then went on to serve as a CIA operations officer from 2006 to 2014, where she worked overseas on matters of national security from nuclear nonproliferation to intelligence gathering on terrorism. Serving on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Rep. Spanberger has pushed to strengthen America’s infrastructure for diplomacy and has been a consistent voice for restoring America’s standing in the world. 

Spanberger is one of Foreign Policy for America’s first four endorsements of the 2022 cycle, along with Rep. Colin Allred (TX-32), Rep. Andy Kim (NJ-03), and Rep. Tom Malinowski (NJ-07). These four were chosen because of their consistent leadership in favor of diplomacy-first foreign policy.
